Baby Nurse

Manage, guide or supervise a very young child or children that is not yet able to walk or talk. Duties include bathing, dressing, monitoring health and scheduling appointments for pediatric care or doctors visits and other parental responsibilities as requested.

Caregiver

An individual that looks after someone. The major responsibility of caring for a child or dependant adult in the home. First and foremost related to the care of seniors and the mentally or physically challenged.

Chauffeur

A person employed to drive a vehicle. Also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of household vehicles. Includes routine cleaning, detailing and the scheduling of mechanical services. Transports residents and guest as required.

Chef

A professional cook. A person who prepares food. Especially the principal cook in a private residence. Responsibilities include the preparation of menus, presentation of meals and kitchen cleaning. Insures integrity of recipe ingredients and quality of prepared meals. Must have the capability to prepare dinner for large estate functions.

Companion

A person who accompanies another or shares in his or her work and leisure. A person employed to live with or to accompany on a daily basis.

Estate Manager, Executive Assistant, Major Domo

A person that is a part of a group that has administrative and or managerial powers in a business or other organization.

Laundress/seamstress

A person that is in charge of maintenance and cleanliness of all garments. Must have the knowledge of fabrics especially household fabrics. Other duties may include ironing and steaming of clothing, proper cleaning and storage of seasonal garments, and be a liaison with tailors, dry cleaner, and other fabric cleaning establishments.

Governess

Home tutor. A woman employed to teach children in a private household. With parental guidance. She teaches the importance of learning skills, social skills and character.

Housekeeper

A person who has the liability to perform routine tasks of cleaning and maintenance in and around the home. Also performs similar functions as the butler, however this position is less formal in retrospect and in responsibilities.

Maid

A person hired to perform household and servant responsibilities. Generally works in specified areas or in functions related to those areas of the estate.

Nanny

Someone who is employed full-time to take care of one or more children in a family. A vital responsibility for this qualified child care provider is caring for the children and making them their main concern. The nanny executes the wishes of the parents. This position generally is one year in duration so as to not interfere with parental control.

Personal Assistant

A person who takes care of your personal affairs on a daily basis. It is a position that covers a wide range of responsibilities determined by the day to day activities of the employer. The personal assistant must have a vast knowledge of communications, phone letter and e-mail correspondence. Travel arrangement skills are also required. The employer relies greatly upon the discretion, confidentiality and honesty of this person. You and the employer must have a great working relationship so that there is a well-balanced environment.

Personal Manager/Valet

Someone who controls and organizes your business affairs. Especially professional actors, singers or other entertainers. This is a person who is involved in the entertainment industry and delegates responsibility to the other business associates.

A personal attendant that takes care of an employers wardrobe and personal belongings. Insures the proper dress of the gentleman of the house. Also is responsible for the packing and unpacking of luggage for business and leisure travel.

Security/Driver

This position can either be one or two separate positions. A security person may be a driver or posted at the residence, and may also work with a team. This position someone usually has some type of government background.
